About the event
Peter Paul RVA invites families, students and educators in the East End to a dynamic, hands‑on celebration of Black History through the lens of creativity, innovation, and STEM excellence.
Designed and led by Peter Paul students and educators, the event brings Black History to life through interactive exhibits, student‑created projects, science demonstrations, and performances, including screening of documentary films by middle and high school students that tell stories of Richmond's Black “trailblazers." Attendees will have the opportunity to explore STEM innovations from the past, celebrate breakthroughs happening today, and imagine what future possibilities lie ahead.
This Black History Expo is the culmination of a month‑long study during which students of all grade levels explored the remarkable accomplishments of Black scientists, engineers, inventors, and community changemakers. “Our goal,” says Kimberly Bailey, Lead Teacher and Committee Chair, “is to help every student see themselves as powerful problem-solvers and future leaders…
